I’m saving the day this March!
Hero Name: Purple Torch
Purple Power: Spreading purple awareness and raising purple funds
Hero Mission: I’m saving the day this March for the 270,000 people in Australia facing the challenges of epilepsy by participating in Make March Purple.
All heroes need their Sidekicks, so please show your support by donating to my page. All funds raised will provide information, education and training and vital support services to people living with epilepsy.
I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy September 2022, and my entire world changed. I don't think anything can really prepare you for what it feels like to loose your sense of identity, independence, or self worth.
You suddenly are thrown into a world of turmoil, confusion, seizures, with no real understanding of why, no sense of control, taking medications that make you feel sick, exhausted, confused, and a multitude of other side effects. Testing after testing, Doctor after doctor and you have to all of a sudden become reliant on other people.
Don't get me wrong here, the Doctors are there to help of course, and the medications are there to try and help manage the seizures but often the side effects are just as bad. Unfortunately, In my case I appear to be drug resistant so while the medications help they don't stop the seizures so sadly I have the side effects from the medications and regular seizures as well.
I have to admit before I was diagnosed I honestly knew next to nothing about Epilepsy. I don't think I even knew anyone with Epilepsy. Even now that I have it, talk about it, and advocate for it, I have realised how many people are completely unaware of how common it is, how much it affects people, how serious it can be, and the impacts it has on people's lives.
It doesn't just have huge impacts on the person, it's a ripple effect and has massive impacts on their family. Raising awareness, donating funds to provide support services across the board can really make a difference to so many people and their families.
I know first hand how hard it has been for me and my family but I am one of the lucky ones to have so much support behind me, let's rally behind the ones out there that don't have that kind of support and please donate xx
Thank you for your support!
